Company History

The Company has its origins in the take-over by JEA Engineering of West Country Aircraft Servicing (WAS) in 1988.  At that time there was an Air Experience Flight, consisting of three RAF Chipmunks, operating at Exeter and maintained by WAS.  The maintenance contract transferred to JEA with the take-over and because their core business was primarily maintaining 20 ton aircraft, it was decided to develop a General Aviation Division to service the Chipmunks’ contract and support light aviation customers.

On the north side of the airfield Hangars 49 and 52 became the centre of the General Aviation division.  With the transfer of the Air Experience Flight to a main RAF base, Hangar 52 became a storage area for private owners’ aircraft and Hangar 49 continued to maintain single and twin engined aircraft up to a weight of 5,700 Kgs.

With the transfer of the workshops’ facilities to JEA’s main hangar on the south side of the airfield, space became available to expand the General Aviation Division.  With increased capacity it was decided to further identify this division by forming a separate company called Iscavia Limited with its own PART 145 Approval specifically for the maintenance and overhaul of general aviation aircraft up to 5,700 Kgs.

In September 2007 the entire share capital was purchased from JEA/Flybe by the current directors.
